PRODUCT SCIENTIST
(electronics, Physics, Maths) Hatfield,
Hertfordshire.
Required to join our Company’s
Product Laboratory. Applicants must have qualifications
and experience which demonstrate an ability to perform
detailed instrumented measurements, analyse data
numerically and to prepare graphical laboratory reports.
The post holder will be expected to design
investigations and devise solutions that may be product
design changes. The Company designs and manufactures
electronic instruments used with PCs to perform acoustic
measurements on ears for medical purposes
internationally. The Product Laboratory is the Company’s
primary resource for knowledge about our products and is
responsible for aspects of product management from
manual creation to the design of fault investigations
and new product evaluations as well as undertaking its
own scientific research.
JOB
DESCRIPTION
To become fully conversant with our
Company’s products and their commercial use To
quickly gain expertise in using the scientific
principles underlying the Company’s
instrumentation To perform measurements on staff ears
including their own using the Company’s
instrumentation for the purposes of:
Proving the
performance of hardware and software Establishing
measurement norms and examples for communication to
customers Investigating reports of
malfunctions
To design and undertake
investigations leading to concrete conclusions and
solutions To become fully conversant with our
Company’s quality system To become fully conversant
in all the processes used in manufacturing and
tests To perform measurements on products at various
stages in production and compile statistics for use in
fault detection and quality assurance
PERSON
SPECIFICATION
Essential: Good aptitude for
working with electronic instrumentation and specialist
computer application software Observant, methodical
and accurate worker Good record keeper and report
writer Good aptitude for maths and physics Able to
work independently and creatively Able to progress
multiple projects in parallel with a good sense of
priority Comfortable working in a small team where
flexibility is required Enthusiasm for work involving
precise physical
measurements
Desirable Previous experience
with computer based measurement systems Previous
industrial experience especially in
electronics Previous laboratory experience in a
relevant field Formal training in a related
scientific or engineering field
The PRODUCT
SCIENTIST will be part of the Product Laboratory team
and will be responsible to the Team Leader.
